Who doesn't love a quick and easy ready meal sometimes? Well, I do, especially if it's full of spice as well as healthy like the new range of vegetarian Indian ready meals by Tasty Bite!

If you read this blog regularly you'll know how much I love Indian food. I've got so many recipes for meaty and vegetarian curries and I'm always looking for new ideas! As far as I'm concerned you can never eat too much curry.

We eat homemade curries, we get curries from our local takeaway and we have emergency curries at home for those days when there really isn't time to cook. Or when one of us is eating alone in the evening.

The new range of vegetarian Indian dishes by Tasty Bite are perfect for those days. They come in individual pouches which you can heat up in the microwave in just one minute! It could not be easier. All you need to do it prepare a quick accompaniment. Rice is always great with curries but why not try quinoa or another grain too? If you don't want to cook rice then a tortilla, chapati or naan also goes perfectly.

What Curries are in the Tasty Bite Range?

I have been sent all 6 of the curries to try. They include:

  • Tikka Masala Chunky Vegetable Curry
  • Vindaloo Fiery Vegetable Curry
  • Korma Vegetable Subtly spiced Curry
  • Delhi Potato and Chickpea Curry
  • Bombay Chickpea Hearty Tomato Curry
  • Punjabi Lentil Creamy Tomato Curry

The Tikka Masala Chunky Vegetable Curry

The first meal I tried was the Tikka Masala Chunky Vegetable Curry. I wrapped it up a tortilla and it made the perfect easy Indian lunch! I added a little chutney and some tomato, cucumber and red onion salad and I enjoyed it as much as a homemade curry!

Vindaloo Fiery Vegetable Curry

I couldn't wait to try the fiery vegetable vindaloo curry. It's a delicious mix of diced vegetables in a rich tomato sauce. I went for a modern serving style in a bowl: sliced avocado, pepper sticks, courgette and red onions slices as well as basmati rice. I couldn't resist slicing up a hot red chilli pepper to give it an extra boost along with some fresh coriander too! I really liked this one.

Healthy Vegetarian Indian Meals

If you're thinking ready meals are not a healthy option then think again. All these meals show the traffic light symbols so you can see at a glance how they compare. There was not one red light in the whole range! They also contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

Quick to prepare!

I mentioned above that the meals themselves only take one minute to heat through in the microwave. That is perfect for busy days. Of course, I spent just a little longer chopping up some vegetables and preparing the rice to go with the vindaloo but they were still on the table in much less than 15 minutes!

What else did I like about the Tasty Bite range?

Well, I loved the fact that these vegetarian Indian ready meals have a long shelf life. The products I've been sent have a life of about 18 months. That means they are ideal for keeping in the cupboard for days when I really haven't had time to organise dinner.

I also love the fact that they have modern authentic Asian flavours and great serving suggestions. Why always just serve curry with rice? I've discovered how well it goes with salad and I loved my tikka masala tortilla wrap!

I'm really looking forward to trying the other curries I've been sent and sharing them with my family. My daughter loves chickpeas and curry so I've got high hopes for the Bombay chickpea curry!

I received a free sample of Tasty Bite Indian food from She Speaks. This is what I think. My husband and I love Indian food so we were a little apprehensive at first; we had the Chickpea Tikka Masala which had great flavors, coincidentally my husband had it for lunch at a business meeting. He said it tasted just as delicious. Great combo of spices and flavors. I loved it as well! We also had the Madras lentils which was a little bland but combined with the spicier Masala it wenr very well. We put it over the Basmati Rice and it was a big hit! So convenient and came all prepared in pouches, and done in no time. Minutes. We are hooked!

I wanted to try the Tasty Bites and found them tasty all right but when I looked at the ingredients I was shocked at the amount of sodium in each pouch - over 40% ? That is poison in my book.

Hi Jacqueline, when I look at the pouches I can see that they are amber for salt but then so are lots of other ready meals. When I zoom in on the Tikka Masala I can see that it is 20% of the recommmended daily allowance for salt. I can't see the other ones clearly but I'd be surprised if they were 40% of rda. That does seem a lot!

I have just done a search online and most of the pouches are between 16 and 20% of rda for sodium. Just one that I found was 22%. Are you sure it was the same product?
