Feb 19, 2008 Full Review I Could Never Be Your Woman | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Pfeiffer and Rudd give strong comic performances, some of their best in recent years. Moreover, the film is a bright, enjoyable romantic comedy, filled with light feminist ideas on Hollywood’s absurd fixation on youth. This one is worth seeking out. Bahad j In my opinion, I felt that the movie was very good, behind all this, the filmmaker was able to come up with the right festive details to congratulate the members of the behind-the-scenes team. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review James B I guess it could be worse. One and a half stars for a few chuckles coming from Tracy Ullman. Also one can see the talent in the young Soirse Ronan. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/23 Full Review Jack B It is no surprise the box office was so low: Michelle must have owed someone a big favor because this is the worst movie I've ever seen her in, and her acting was at the same level. In addition, the script was the very definition of puerile. Seriously, don't waste your time on this loser. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Hayley B OK so this movie is from 2007, and yes we've come a long way with recognizing where tact and kindness are concerned, but I was thoroughly enjoying this until I wasn't.Comparing a pile of naked used Barbies destined for Goodwill to the holocaust that wiped 6 millions members of families and their bloodlines, subsequently changing our planets DNA."They're all naked and skinny and lying in a pile it looks like a concentration camp We have to dress them. Please it's depressing"I have never reviewed a movie, it's mundane and if I'm not getting paid for it life is too shortBut honestly I think this might be the most offensive thing I have ever heard or seen in a movie. I am a nurse, gore, rudeness, most humans in general, you name it, comes with the territory. There is not much that stuns or offends me, Due to this reference I almost stopped watching this movie. Really sucks actually, because I was enjoying it, refreshingly, very funny with a great cast.Again this was in 2007, much has changed much is more accepted, About freaking time too, but there is no decade in which this comment would have ever been accepted, appropriate or funny in anyway.I only wrote this because I hope that the proud mom or instructed assistant of whom ever scripted this might potentially get a ping or notification or some shit and see it. Hey you never know, I would probably be that proud or vain too were I in their gifted shoes. How else are you supposed to improve, constructive criticism is vital. So, here's my comment, there is no realm in which this could be funny or even rationalized of being such in anyway and it makes me wonder if the writer is just a vile human. Makes me sadHayley Sumner WA Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/22 Full Review Audience Member really funny and sweet and strange. i loved it. any woman who worked in hollywood in the 90s will especially relate to this weird romcom by amy heckerling. paul rudd is extra cute & hilarious in his role as a disney channel ingenue. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The premise of the movie fundamentally doesn't work because Paul Rudd and Michelle Pfieffer appear to be a completely sensible couple. There's nothing that screams that they are unequal in any way. The age difference is not that noticeable. So when characters in the movie are mistaking her for his mom and calling her a dried up old hag..it doesn't work. Because she isn't. Calling him a kid doesn't work because he is clearly a 30 year old man, at least. Besides that, a lot of the comedy doesn't hold up, and I question if it ever felt fresh, or if it felt dated already when it first came out. Apparently it sat on the shelf for a while before going straight to video. That was definitely best. The movie hasn't aged well, no pun intended. The humor ranges from unfunny to offensive. Paul Rudd kind of saves it because he's so likeable and naturally funny, and Siaorse Ronan is so so talented even at 10 years old, but the writing is just all over the place and mostly terrible. Not even going to recommend to skip this one. It was certainly a fun and interesting watch...it just wasn't good. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
