While a lot of all-terrain tires are increasingly appearing on the market with features that make them better suited to the highway, the Duratrac stands out as being true to its cause.

And it looks it with a seriously aggressive tread pattern that says you’re ready to hit the trails, the mud, the rocks… whatever!

The tread pattern is designed for amazing grip on and in everything, from rocks and gravel, to mud, sand and even snow.

The tire’s shoulder is equally as aggressive with a unique patter designed to help shed dirt, gravel and mud, while also giving an extra level of grip in the deep stuff. It also works to give the sidewalls extra protection against slashes and cuts, while protecting your rims from scrapes too.

One particularly unique feature of this tire is that its tread base actually features tiny teeth to give extra biting edges.

As one might expect with an extreme off-road tire like the Wrangler Duratrac, it receives the Rubber Manufacturer Association’s Three Peak Mountain Snowflake logo (the same one found on winter tires) making it perfectly suited for extreme winter conditions. (Of note, that qualification applies to all but theLT275/70R18 size).

Those looking for even more grip will find that the LT sizes are studdable.

As for noise volume with this tire, it is louder than many rivals, but it’s also more capable than most, so while this is technically a drawback, we’ll give it a pass.

In the segment, the Wrangler Duratrac is expensive, but when you consider the capability and long life of the tire, it’s worth it.

If there’s any down side to the tire it’s that it only has a 2-ply sidewall, which means that it’s more prone to getting sliced open by sharp rocks than some sturdier options, like the BFGoodrich KO2.

Out of 922 user reviews on Goodyear’s own website, 722 of them gave the tire a 5 star rating, while another 125 gave the tire a 4 star rating. On DiscountTire, the tire is recommended by 94.3% of owners.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac Price

A pricey tire, the Wrangler Duratrac starts at roughly $180 a tire for 15-inch fitments up to just over $400 per tire for 20-inch fitments.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac Warranty

All Wrangler tires come with a warranty ranging from 45,000 miles to 60,000 miles. As the Duratrac is more extreme in its performance, the warranty is on the lower side at 50,000 miles. Considering it’s capability, that’s still impressive though.

In addition, Goodyear backs the tire with a replacement guarantee for the first year or 2/32nds of tread life, if there is an issue with the materials or workmanship of the tire. Beyond that, and up to six years from the original purchase price, Goodyear will pro-rate the refund.

Who Should Consider These Tires?

One of the most extreme off-road tires Goodyear has to offer, we recommend these tires for anyone looking for extreme traction, in particular for heavy duty trucks or those that require load E rated tires. These tires are more extreme than most and as a result come with all the benefits and drawbacks you might expect.

That said they are extremely capable off-road, from rocks to deep mud, though you do sacrifice some civility in the noise level of the tread to get there.

They are also ideal for anyone who lives in the snow belt as all but one size is certified for true winter use.

We’re also pleased to report most owners see more than the 50,000 miles Goodyear claims.

We’d recommend against these tires for anyone who only does occasional or light off-roading and who tows plenty on-road or does so mostly for personal use. These are some of the louder all-terrain tires on market and if your truck is towing a fifth-wheel for pleasure, you might want to look at a highway terrain tire like the Continental Terrain Contact HT.

What Ply is the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac?

In terms of the sidewall, the Duratrac is a 2-ply. As for the load range rating, it’s available in numerous different fitments including 10-ply/Load Range E ratings for heavy duty pickups.
